all you need is love
`I don’t know anything, but I do know that everything is interesting if you go into it deeply enough` Richard Feynman
This quote puts me in mind of a chai shop conversation in India many years ago, amongst the motley crew of afternoon tea drinkers. Rooplal, the chai wallah, listened without comment to our earnest debate about what were the important ingredients of a life well lived. One of the customers turned to him and asked what he thought. “Come back tomorrow,” he said, “and I will tell you.”
The following afternoon I made my way back to Rooplal, thirsty not only for his sweet and fragrant chai but also for his answer. “Love and learning,” he said “because love and learning never end.”
I feel this is what keeps my yoga practice and teaching fresh and engaging. It’s a continuous stream of the more I learn, the more I love it, and the more I love it, the more I learn. As soon as I lose the spirit of enquiry, those essential elements of a life well lived begin to evaporate.
As summer fades and autumn reminds us of the start of term, I hope Urban Yogi`s programme of yoga and related events will awaken your curiosity, encouraging you to fall in love with your practice and deepen your journey of heartfelt learning.
May all beings be happy.
